Actually Viz does have a file size limit with the default rendering image of
32768 px x 32768 px, so this is not as uncommon as you might think. If you
were really rendering you could get a higher resolution, however what you
are really doing is exporting a screen capture.
If you want more control over image resolution and size - don't export an
image - print to a file. You can print to PDF at virtually any size and
resolution you like and then open that in Photoshop for editing. I do this
all the time and the results area great. You can also print to many other
file formats. You can print to a generic postscript printer which may give
you an *.eps for Photoshop. There are also drivers that will print to Jpeg
or TIFF. But I've had the best luck with going to pdf.

I am "rendering" hidden line images in Revit for a presentation. I cannot
use the Rendering tools to render the model in hidden line (without
materials), so I simply turn on shadows and export the image. When I do
this, the image comes out very jagged and bitmapped looking. I have tried
to increase the file size and change from a jpeg to a tiff. I am also
surprised that Revit would have a maximum file size for exporting. I have
not run across that issue in other modelers (Triforma, VIZ). Has anyone
come across a solution for this?
