IFC Export in Autodesk products

Dear representatives of Autodesk,

please let me introduce myself to you and ask a couple of questions, related to IFC Export in your products.

My name is Veselin Veselinov, architect in a multimedia company, called Mediatecture LTD, Sofia, Bulgaria (Solely owned by Die Werkbank Medienproduktion und Verlag GmbH, Vienna, Austria - www.diewerkbank.eu), where we are developing currently a software solution, related to IFC Import data from CAD data, in order to ease the work of project planners.

Currently we're supporting the Graphisoft's ArchiCAD 16 and we would like to support in our software solution also an Autodesk product - we've researched so far only Revit 2013, we will research also AutoCAD Architecture 2013 in the next days. Just for your inforamtion - we are interested only in the external building elements.

Currently we've found in the IFC data the following information:

1)Area of walls/roof/slabs/windows/doors

2)Height/lenght/width/volume of a wall

3)Perimeter of slab and roof

4) External settings for Roof and Door - 'IsExternal' - IFCPROPERTYSINGLEVALUE

Could you please let us know, which possibilities does the IFC Export in Autodesk products give to the user:

1) how can a building element (wall / roof / slab) be defined, if it is exterior or interior? Automatically or hand written? Which data is recognizable in the iFC data file? We have the "IsExternal" setting and IFC data in the IFC exported file for roof and door, but no information about walls/slabs ?

2) how can a buidling element be defined as an underground element (below ground - for example a cellar)?

3) how can be defined on which floor a building element is placed?

Could you please support us in this direction? If the data is not currently available in the IFC exported data from Revit 2013, is it planned that this information will be included in the further version of the software (Revit 2014/AutoCAD Architecture 2014, etc.) ?

We are interested to buy a licensed version of an Autodesk software, if the software can satisfy our project needs and we can find in the IFC data file, all the information, which we need (repeated below again):

-difference between exterior/interior building elements

-recognizing the floor on which a building element is placed

-recognizing which elements are below ground

Thank you in advance for your reply,

Best,

Veselin Veselinov
