how to specify material id in the xml file?

is there a way to specify a new construction material with a new material id number in the xml file so that when I construct a wall for example, I can pull that material into the wall layer?  For example, I'd like to create a new insulation material that's currently not in the normal material library, but I don't know how to specify the material id number in the xml file.....any suggestions?  thank yoU!

In order to create a new material and add it to a special construction, you need to go to Manage/Materials on the ribbon. This will open up the Material Browser.  In the Material Browser, click on the little icon under the project materials list with a "+" sign and select "Create new material".

After this you can select the created material, define and adjust propeties for it.

You can add this material to construction elements such as walls or floors as usual with the Edit Type button in the Properties Panel.
