Hi,

1- Use in place family (Not too hard) or in place mass (intermediate)
2- Use adaptive components in conceptual massing (advanced)

Why do you need the waves? If this is just a representation of material, then you can do this with a basic wall.

Hint: Architecture tab - Create - Component - in-place - choose one of the available options and create any form.

I suggest to use a maped material not to model the 3d...

  1. make a new wall type
  2. make a new material using the bitmap AC_FLOW_WAVE.jpg as generic and bump
  3. adjust the scale of the bitmap

if I were in the situation to make a real 3d modeling waving surface I'd  rather prefer to do it in 3d max using Displace .

It is also possible to import the resulting 3d object in Revit  exporting from Max into dwg and importing this file into Revit....but it's better to finish it in Max , a program more appropriate for this kind of modeling

in 3DS Max after using Displace modifier:

and imported as dwg into Revit:

Hi,

I don't use Revit for rendering, and I only call out and define materials in Revit soley for takeoffs.

Thanks anyway,

Hi,

I don't use Revit for rendering.  I render in 3ds Max.  So far with all the mapped materials in my procedurals they are not coming out the way that I would like - that's why I want to model it now - hoping for better results.

Thanks,

bluicat
