How should I be modelling my elevator core, and other similar items?

Hello,

I'm working on a Revit model created by an employee about 4 years ago.  It has 10 levels including basement parking.  I've discovered that she modelled the elevator shaft using sketch lines in each floor slab on a floor-by-floor basis.  This means that that shaft does not line up vertically in several places.  I have now replaced this with a Revit Shaft, and will do the same for other voids, such as ventilation shafts and plumbing risers.

One that that does concern me is how the elevator core walls have been modelled.  The building is concrete frame, and the walls are infill non-loadbearing blockwork.  I would have thought they should be modelled floor-by-floor, but the other employee has drawn them from the lowest level all the way to the roof.  Is this acceptable, ie: does Revit properly handle the intersection between wall and floor at the intermediate levels, or should they be modelled floor-by-floor?

One good way to do elevator shaft walls is to create them on the lowest floor and then "Copy to Clipboard". Then Paste “Aligned to Selected Levels”, selecting all required upper levels. Here’s a short Autodesk Screencast video that demonstrates this: Elev shaft walls

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the screencast video.  In the absence of any earlier reply, I had to proceed on my own.  I basically did what you'd suggested except I copied one floor at a time.  I didn't know how "Paste to selected levels" worked.  Also, because I'm working on a historic building, each floor to floor height is different, so I had to drag the walls up to the underside of the slabs.
