how do I get rid of unwanted edges in elevations

This and other elevations have lines between new and existing walls/soffits.  Joining doesn't eliminate the line.  The existing wall is also in a group.

Is there any way to selectively hide an edge in an elevation?

First ,you  must be sure that the surface are trully aligned ( use Align tool - I do it in a 3d View) and the material from finishes is the same one.

If this does not work you can use , in Elevation View or in any other view , Linework Override :

  • in Elevation View > Modfy > View > Linework > Linestyle > Invisible Lines > click on linnes you want to hide from view...

Thanks.  Typing LW makes a quick shorthand to get to it quickly.
