I'm actually a construction engineer but i'm trying to play a litlle with architecture softwares.
I have Revit Architecture 2012 & 3ds Max.
I build some model in Revit and render it.. its quite good but i heard that 3ds max is perfect!
The problem is that i am construction engineer! not a graphic genius - because of that it easy for me working with Revit (Have Experience with Revit Structure too..).
Anyway i have two questions:
1. Can i build a model in Revit And render it in 3ds max?
2. Is the 3ds max render will be better looking than the revit render? (because all the material stuff is Revit stuff)
Yes--you can export your model via FBX and Link it into 3dsMaxDesign. There is a "Revit" pre-set in Max for importing/linking
the FBX from Revit.
Revit and Max both use the Mental Ray rendering engine and the same Protein 2 Materials, so the workflow is pretty smooth
from Revit to Max.
You have much better camera, lighting and material control inside of Max, and it will render faster than Revit.
cheers
the learning curve for max is going to be high
it will take time to learn all the buttons and different settings

I agree--Max learning curve is very steep.
You might also consider using Revit 2012's new "Cloud Render" feature available to Subscription members.
The results are very good and it renders much faster than even our fastest dedicated high-end multi-core workstations.
Plus you can continue working in Revit while the cloud render happens in the background.
