Floor slab recesses - beams a problem

Hi all,

I have made a slab recess family so I can have a setdown in my floor slabs, which works a treat except when it encounters (concrete) beams. Beams don't seem to want to be cut. I use full depth beams so that I am required to think less. i.e. a 300 deep beam extends from the top of the floor slab to the beams underside.

I know that if I changed the beam depths to account for the slab thickess (e.g. 300 deep beam in a 150 thick floor slab would be changed to a 150 deep beam) I would have no problems but I would make more mistakes as a result.

Is there a solution to this?

I have tried cutting the recess out of the beam in 3d to no avail.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Raoul
