Failed to open revit 2011 after download

I downloaded the 2011 revit program on sunday the 1st of august. once the file downloaded, it gave me a link to open the file. after clicking on this link, and using 3 different browsers to try to click the link, the program still did not want to open. i would like to install this program onto my computer asap please help

Hello,

In order to assist you, we may need a little more information:

• Where did you download the Revit installation from?  Was it here:  http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=14973244
• You mentioned that after downloading the file, you were given the option to open the file.  Do you recall where you downloaded the file locally on your PC?  If so, can you manually browse to it in Windows Explorer and double-click on the .exe to start the install?
• Do you have full administrative rights on the PC that you are trying to install Revit on?  Also, have you attempted to disable any virus protection software while attempting to open the file?

Thank you for the ideas. It turns out it had downloaded the file into a random folder amongst my other thousands of files and folders on my hard drive. But I am curious as to why: 1. I could not open it directly after the download from the link provided on this page:

(I have a student account and received a free 30 day trial of the product)

and 2. why I could not choose where I wanted save the installer.

But other than this, once I found the installer the installation went smoothly and I am currently using it with ease thank you
