Extracting Plans (curved lines at Levels) from a sweep form

We have a buildig form which is developed as a sweep form. The form is made as a generic family. When the form is placed in the project, we are able to see the cut lines as in plan but when we try to draw floor plates which are to be generatd from the intersecting lines of the form in respective levels, we are unable to select the cut lines.

Several of us have tried this. Please help, how can we generate the floor plates which are linked to the cut lines?

Instead of your sweep being part of the Generic Model category, you should make on with the category "Mass".

Once you do that, you can select the Mass, and in the contextual tab use the "Create Mass Floors" command.

Unfortunately, there is no way to change the category of a Generic Model to a Mass, so you will have to recreate your sweep.

Many thanks.

We need to sweep a curve over a rail and then cut it to get a volume. Then we will need this generated at the levels specifed to get the floor plate curves as shown in images attached.

When we do with conceptual mass, we are not able to cut the void and also we are unable to generate floor plates as seen in the error images attached.

When we do with Generic mass we are able to get the final form perfectly but are unable to generate floor plates.

Desparately looking for answers!

Kindly advice.

You need to create a mass as a volume, not just as a surface. Only a mass with volume can be cut by levels and create floors.

Amazing! Thank you.

Yes absolutely right its happening, but how do you create void if you make your mass as conceptual mass?

With the same methods that you create solids, then create voids, then use Cut Geometry.

Do I do that in the family or do that after bringing the mass to project and then do inside the project?

Message 8 of 9

In the conceptual mass there is no option to create void

How do I create void?

Create a 2d shape > select it  > Create form > Solid or Void.
