Extending the top layer of a roof ( the slates or tiles for instance)

Is it possible to extend the roof covering layer over the top of the structure  leaving the timbering recessed back, To show it where it extends over the bread board or guttering with out affecting the main structure of the roof. Also where a barge board is not required on a gable

Thanks in anticipation Martin

It would be a good idea that floors and roofs had this feature of extending a layer independtly from the others. One possible solution is to model that extension with the Roof fascia tool. You need some profiles, some horizontal, some sloped, and some invisible lines to mask the seams. Not ideal, yes, I agree. It would be better to unlock a finish layer and move it out, but, we don't have that option now.

You can post feature requests here:

Meanwhile, you can create a void sweep to cut the lower layers of the roof, leaving the top layer overhang.  Or, you can stack two roofs with different footprints, then join them.

over size your roof as req'd and use 'Cut profile' tool in view menu to cut back other layers, or just do individual layers
