exporting to max with VRay

I am having issues with importing between revit and max. Eporting to 3D DWG and then linking the DWG in max works fine, but as soon as I try to render the VRay render window gives a 'transforming vertices' message that runs for an inordinately long time. This process with a revit generated file takes about 10 times longer than with a native Autocad file. Any ideas on how to speed up this process?

We have tried to 'clean' the file in autocad (purge & audit, and even pasting it into a clean drawing) but to no avail.

solid or surface model? or is the delay the same with both? What versions?
RAC08-dwg2007-max9-vray1.5?

we have tried with both ACIS and native DWG, and the delay is the same with both.

vray 1.5rc3 - max9 - deg2007 - RA2008 is being used on a quad core chip with 2gig ram

The 'transforming vertices' process takes a number of minutes, and after the render when the 'render done' message shows we wait another couple of minutes for the vray to release the file and max become active.

single shot interiors are ok to render, but exterior shots are not feasable.

I can tell you its not revit, or max for sure. i run a quadro chip 2 gig ram and PC 4 gig ram. i dont use vray but i have in the past. I dont have any problms rendering with max, so i would try to contact v-ray.
by the way when you exporting to dwg are you taking revit lights and cameras. if you are i would do without lights export to dwg.
