existing 3D dwgs

I've been working with files that have been created in Revit. Before I make the investment to pruchase Revit, I want to know how difficult is it to work with files that are in 3D Autocad-dwgs, and importing them into Revit. If it's true to what I've been reading that you can only import 2d drawings into Revit then this defeats my interest considerably. How do you import these type of files?

You can import 3D DWG's into Revit, but they will not convert the solid geometry to Revit massing or building components directly. You need to inport the AutoCAD 3D into a create mass in the massing editor and then you can face the mass with Floors, Roofs, Walls and Curtain Systems to start the development of your model.

Hi I have a file with 3D CAD drawings with a existing roof profile,see attached.Could we create a roof model in revit by useing this 3D cad file?
