Doors width - type or instance parameter

Hi,
Where do I assign the Door Width parameter? Most of the Revit families have
it as a Type parameter. That means, I have to create a separate type for a
3' door and 3'6 door. In our office for a reasonable size project the number
of these door types become quite large (with vision panel, half glazing,
full glazing, etc.) This means whenever someone wants to insert a door, this
person has to waddle through there is a list of 50 door types in the type
selector.
I know this type paramenter can be easily edited to become an instance
parameter. My question is: Is there any advantage in keeping it as a Type
parameter? Is this done for scheduling different size doors separately?
Thanks for your reply.

***Yes, but you do this once and you have the door ready for the feature.
Also it is how you can have schedules.
It only requires a few mouse clicks (duplicate, rename, change param, OK,OK)

Thanks JTB.
Yes, it is very easy to create a separate type. But I dont want our users
to wade through 50 such types in the type selector to select the required
one.
How does it affect the schedule? I think, even if all the doors in the
project are of the same type, one can still schedule it.
Any other reasons?
Thanks
