Door visibility and phases

I have set up phases to show demolished and new in a view ( Phase filter set to override and graphic overrides all set with existing , demolished and new). I cant find anyway of getting past this condition where a new widened door over a previous demolished door obscures the new frame. 1st image without object highlighed and 2nd with). Is there a fix?

Two questions:

1. Does it print the way you want it to?  Sometimes there are on-screen errors that print fine, and are the result of graphics card issues.
2. Are you issuing drawings for construction that simultaneously show demo and new construction?  Or is this just meant to be an internal coordination drawing?  I only ask because having the two overlap seems like it would be more confusing than beneficial, and I was wondering what the intent was of having the two on the same drawing.
