DOOR TAGS

Is there a way to get the door tags to link to the room number??

No, but in your door schedule you can add the fields from room and to room, then just modify the number from teh schedule to match the room

Where do you get these parameters from? Are you using shared parameters in
the door families?

Found it. Next ?: Can you set the "to room" regardless of the swing
direction. ie: a door between a bedroom and closet, schedule should only
say closet, but door might swing out into the bedroom for a regular closet,
but into a walk-in closet.

When you place a door the side it swings into decides what "TO" is initially. If you change the "TO" value it does not affect the swing and if you flip the swing of the door it does not alter the "TO" value either for the reason you stated. Place the door so it swings into the closet first, then flip it out. This way it will be "TO" the closet and stay that way.

Thanks,

Next ?: How can I get the door tag to mark itself based on the "To Room". I
put a shared parameter into the door and the room, but the door tag won't
pick up the parameter from the room.

Sorry, not possible to link this data at this time. A door knows what room it is from and to but this isn't known until it is placed. When you build a door tag you are not in a project and the relevant parameters for rooms are not exposed to the family editor environment as other system parameters are.

It is a well understood wish to have a door acquire a number derived from the room it is associated with. I'm sure that they will address it in the future.

For now it remains up to us to assign a door number that matches what we want. You can use a schedule to help fill in the correct values faster. Set up a QA schedule that shows the From To values for room name and number. Then put a "cleaner" schedule on your sheet that doesn't include them.

It might be possible via the API but I don't know that for a fact.

Darn. I guess we'll have to put it on the wish list and wait for the next
release. Thanks.
