Yes. Some parameters are created when loaded into the project. Sill heights
based on the ref. plan in the drawing that defines the origin of the family
(bottom). In the stock door template this is sitting at the ref. level and a
little hard to see since they overlap. If this is not defined as the origin,
then the model's extents define where the sill is. Head height is simply the
sill+height or in the case of the door - its height.
From what you've told me so far - you have a 6'-8" door sitting 2" above the
floor (level).
The window family works the same way. It has a default sill height and head
height is generated automatically when loaded into the project.
Other families have an elevation setting which is based on the same concept
of origin. A common mistake is for users to add in a bottom parameter in a
generic family to move it up and down. This is not needed and causes
confusion as the elevation and bottom setting may "fight" with each other
and not give a true picture of where the object really is.

I have a door family that is including sill height at 2" and head height at
6'10", but it isn't in my family and only shows up when I load it into a
