really? I care only about the door schedule - does this mean we need say 5
kinds of doors (glazed, slab etc) x 6-7 sizes x 3 formats (single, double,
double unequal sides) or 90 door types?
shared instance would limit that quite nicely and work in the door schedule.

A door schedule is typically setup to look for families then by type. If
you change them to instance parameters you'll have a mess, quantity takeoffs
will be inaccurate as well. Thought about the same thing when I first setup
our templates and quickly found out that it was a bad idea.
