Display Type Mark in Windows Tag for Skylight

The type mark for a skylight is showing up a s '?' in a custom windows tag.  Did anyone come across this problem?  Does anyone have a solution around this?

Select the skylight window > Edit type > in the Type Mark parameter, enter the type designation.

This is already set, but the field in the tag still shows '?'.
