Dimensions and Ref Planes

Hello -

I have a bay window, walls on 45 degree angles, on my project that is very difficult to dimension. No matter what dimension method I choose I cannot pick the intersections of the core faces for dimensioning. So, I set some reference planes along the face of the core and I was able to dimension the walls. However, if I turn off the visibility of the reference planes in that view my dimension leave with them. I found a work around to hide the "reference plane annotation" one by one in the view so they no longer are seen.

Am I missing something? Is there a proper or better way to do this type of dimensioning? Any and all comments are welcome.

Cheers - Tay

The ref planes wont print if you check the box in the print dialog box, so
you could just leave them on. (unless they bug you bring there?)

U need to TAB until u find a dot highlighted which is the intersection of the two walls.. It does work. Try a bit more, and yeah only with the Aligned dimension of 8.1
Somebody helped us on this very recently.

Hello -

Thanks for the reply. I did not realize they would not print. I guess I should have done a test run.

Hello -

I tried that a while back and the results were inconsistent. At some of the intersections tabbing found the dot you mentioned an I could dimension at other intersections no matter what I did the intersection could not be found. I checked my join conditions and all of the materials are the same on all walls. Maybe in Revit 9 this will work better?

What I do is just make a small 0.5mm drafting line & grip the dimension to the DL

(I am aware that later when changes happen I have to be careful)
