dimensioning a wall demolished by inserting a door

So we have new doors inserted into existing walls. Revit automatically demolishes that portion of the wall. Well, we need to dimension the location of these demolished walls on the dimension plan. But when I try to dimension, it selects the entire wall. It won't select just the one edge. Obviously I've tried tabbing.

How are you supposed to dimension the demolished walls?

Do you have your dimensions set to Pick: Entire Wall on the Option bar as opposed to Individual walls. I had no problem tabing to the ends of the demolished or existng and new walls with both Pick options.

You have to tab until you see a dot on the wall end since the demolished wall does not show a split line.

Nope, Individual References.

These aren't JUST demolished walls. I have zero problems dimensioning to walls that *I* have demolished. The problem appears to be with walls that REVIT demolishes when I insert a door into an existing wall.

And I repeat: "Obviously I've tried tabbing."

I tried dimensioning to an existing wall in a view set to New, a new door, and had no problems. Revit does not demolish an existing wall when you place an existing or new door, but does demolish the opening for the door to fit into.

I am not seeing what you are trying to do with the dimensions. Could you post an image showing the existing wall the door, Revit demolished opening for the door and dimensions?

This is a demo plan. The opening isn't shown. The new door isn't shown. Just the dashed lines illustrating the wall to be removed. Dimension the location for those lines now.

I'll post an image in a little bit.

Ok, here's an image outlining the steps to reproduce the problem.

This does pose a problem.

I was going to suggest splitting the wall at that location.
Unfortunately, even that will not allow a dimension to be placed. Nor do
we seem to have the ability to move an existing string's witness line to
that area. Unless I am missing something, this does appear to be a
defect, but as you noticed only where there is the automatic demo infill
from placing the door.

The best thing I can offer: place a ref plane at the opening edges and
dimension to that instead of the demo'd portion of wall.

Actually, I figured out a better situation. Temporarily hide the demoed door. Then you can dimension the opening left behind. Unhide the demoed door.

Zoom the demolition portion. Then select dimension  put cursor on corner portion of demolition and press tab key until the blue point gets visible and then you can dimension it
