Design Options - Changing

Once an element is placed in a particular design option, can it ever be moved to another option or a copy of the element made and moved to anohter option?

It seems like I can only delet it and either re-create in the main model and change to the design option I want or re-creat in the new design opion.

Select the object, Ctrl-C, switch to the active design option to the one where you want to include it (and make sure that the option is visible in that view), then go to Modify --> Paste Aligned to same place.
