I'm attempting to delete a design option that we created in order to alleviate model creation conflicts. We were testing whether it was to be a sub-category design option or a main heading, so I just modeled a couple things (in a floor plan that was created months ago in another design option) to try and get them to show up. When I realized that sub-category was not the way to go, I tried to delete that design option and it removed the floor plan I was using.
Why?
I examined the "Visible in Option" line and it has the name of an option that I'm not deleting, so....? Now what? I just want to clean up my model and remove that test design option.

Looking at the Deleting Design Options and Option Sets help topic, I see the following are removed from the project when deleting the design option:
From your description, you have checked the second bullet point (the Visible In option).
I've found when the second bullet point applies, and you delete the Design Option, you are warned about the associated views which will be deleted and you cannot uncheck the box next to the view (indicating that you can't keep the view while deleting the Design Option).
When the third bullet point applies, the checkbox is not grayed out and you can uncheck it to keep the view when deleting the Design Option.
When you delete the Design Option, are you seeing a warning regarding the view to be deleted, and can you uncheck the box next to the view?
There wasn't a warning, but I do recall editing which design options were visible when I was working in that view, so that was probably it.
Thanks.
