Create sides or apron on site topography

In the REVIT 2012 Basic Sample Project, the 3d view site has sides or an apron which conceals the building foundations and gives the site some mass. I have included an attachment with a 3D exterior view of the sample project and a project with a "Sideless" site. Can anyone show me how the sides in the basic sample project are achived? Thank you.

The green example has a slope to it--it creates the "sides" automatically because of the slope.

The brown example is essentially flat, so there are no triangular "sides".

Add so slope to it and it will have the "sides".

If your site is actually flat, then it is what it is.........You could build walls around it and edit their profiles,

if you want a "boundary" like a real physical model would have......

Use a 3d section box, and pull the sides in to cut the site, then hide thhe section box. The depth is controlled in the properties of the topo.

Scott,

You are correct about the Section Box, but looking at the OP example ( the brown one)

it looks like the site is basically flat--no contours and slope as seen in the green example--

this there is no " edge".

cheers

That is true but a section box can still be applied to get the "apron".  The site settings will detirmine how "deep" the section will show when cut..

Thanks so much for the help....Too easy!

I'd like to mention, I tried adjusting the depth of the "apron" using your suggestion to change the elevation of poche base.

This only altered the site depth in section and elevation views and not in the 3d view.

I found that going to a side elevation in the 3d view and selecting the section box shows arrow grips which can be used to change the top and bottom of the section box and "apron" depth as result.

Hi!

I have the same problem - although my site is rather sloped. What am I doing wrong?  (elevation of poche base -30000)

From the image it does not look like you have a section box applied to the view.  You must turn on the section box of the view and you have to make sure the cutting edges of the box intersect the toposurface.  If it is an elevation view you have to make sure the cutting plane of the section is crossing the toposurface in order to see the cut edge.  The cut edge will only be show along the elevation plane so the edges in the backiground are not going to be cut.
