costing/quantities

Hello,

We would like to use revit help produce bills of quantities,
give us info regarding energy - life cycle costing etc.

I realize in the U.S there are third parties which can make use of xml files,
Does anyone know of such things in Australia???

Thanks
Steve

Well I guess not.

Are we treading on the toes of other professions by
attempting this?

You can generate Schedules within Revit to quantify elements from your project for Bills of Quantities, and you can set up custom parameters within families and Calculated Values in Schedules to do some level of energy & life cycle costing entirely within Revit. > I realize in the U.S there are third parties which can make use of xml files, > Does anyone know of such things in Australia??? There are two things more to mention. One is that Schedules in Revit can be exported to Excel & the entire Revit model can be exported via ODBC to any database format for automated report generation, and the second is that the rather nice tool, ECOTECH (which is made by an Australian), can now read gbXML files from Revit and use that data to do complex energy/lighting/acoustic/ect anylisis upon your Revit projects. If you can give some more concrete examples of what you want to do, I can provide more real-world examples of how you would do it inside of Revit or via ODBC. -- Jeffrey McGrew Application Specialist BSD AEC Technologies, a division of ID8 Media Inc. Hi Jeffrey, Do you have a URL for ECOTECH or any further details. I'd like to know more about them, but my web search led to a dead link. Thanks! I tried the demo and liked it a lot. Just never used it because I find it so fast to model Buildings within Revit that I have a hard time using anything else anymore. ;-) But now that it will be able to talk with Revit I'll have to take another look. -- Jeffrey McGrew Application Specialist BSD AEC Technologies, a division of ID8 Media Inc.
