Copy Monitor Shaft Openings

Is it possible to copy monitor a shaft opening without the floor? If so, please walk me through the steps.

I do not know of anyway of copy/monitoring an opening.

If there were grid lines aroung the opening you could monitor the grids and the level, but I do not know a way specifically for an opening.
