Convert to Independent View

I have created some dependent views from a particuliar view, to be exact I duplicated a reflected ceiling plan as a dependent and assigned a scope box to that view.  I have a reflected ceiling plan that is quite large and so I set up two scope boxes Area "A" and Area "B".  I fully understand that the dependent views take on the same settings as the parent view.  Now I want to make the two area plans independent from the parent view.  I have right clicked while on that view in project browser and selected "convert to independent view", for some odd strange reason - it is not converting to an independent view.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I have done this before, but no success with reflected ceiling plans.

It may not be the quickest or proper way to solve the issue, but have you tried to simply "duplicate with detailing" the existing dependent views? That will likely disassociate the view while keeping any work that you may have put into them.

After right clicking on the dependent view, and selecting "Convert to independent view," you should see that the position of the view will shift to the left (showing that it is no longer a sub-level of the main view, and the Dependency parameter (for the view) will change from showing the parent view to saying Independent.

If you are not seeing these changes when selecting "Convert to independent view," try creating a new project and verify that it works as expected.

If the issue is specific to your current project, the following blog post has information on troubleshooting steps you can use to look for differences in the projects:
