I am running Revit Architecture 2013.
I am working in a project where we need to deliver .dwg files to our client. Within a single Revit category (Furniture, in this case) we have divided the components into different groups (based on who will deliver them and when). I can very easily show this information in the various views using filters (filtering by the delivery package). But when I export these views to .dwg I cannot control the names of the new layers Revit makes for these visual overrides. The new layers are not even consistent from one view to another. Our client wants to have the different packages on different layers in the .dwg files.
Does anyone know of a way to control how Revit names the new layers it makes for visual overrides?
I am using "All properties BYLAYER, new layers for overrides" when exporting.
It wouldn't work for us to make a bunch of subcategories and map them to layers, as adding all those subcategories would be a lot of family work for a single project and it would just have to be redone for the next project.
Thanks in advance for any help!
With this setting, elements with view specific overrides should export to new incremental layers. If you had three walls with different overrides you would end up with A-WALL-1, A-WALL-2, and A-WALL-3. The overrides are view-specific so the layers will not be consistent depending on what overrides are present and what is being exported in each view. I would have recommended subcategories, but if that’s not an option perhaps another user on here might be able to suggest a process that’s worked for them.
