Constrained walls

We have a Shell model that has been supplied by the Contractors Architect, this model will change! We are responsible for the fitout of the project.

We have linked the Shell model (SM) to our drawings and drawn the basics of the layout, however we now have a number of issues.

1) The internal walls go full height to the underside of the sloping roof  (i.e 1 part of the top of the wall is 4.5m the other end if 5.2m)

As the model is linked we cannot constrain the wall to the underside of the roof. Is this correct or is there a method of doing this.

2) We have brought into the model SM as a group in our model, which know means that we constrain the walls to the underside of the roof (great). However if we remove the SM from the model, all the walls drop back to the default 4m height. Can this be stopped? Once constrained is there a method of setting the wall to stay at that height when we remove the SM.

Thank you

Hi there..

Your alternative method to resolve this is to use a reference plane, constrained to the Roof underside.

Attach the walls to the reference plane, that way if the Roof model gets disconnected, the walls remain attached to the reference plane, if the roof model gets updated the reference plane could be adjusted to the changes as it doesn't go automatically to the new position, however you will get a warning about it.
