command line LAG time

Revit r14: the command button (this button http://screencast.com/t/wOBBOlG6VX)  when pressed has developed a very annoying lag time of up to 30 seconds between the time its pressed and the time it drops down.   Seems to happen with small and large files.   Happens less after a save.  example:  http://screencast.com/t/UbpMC73x shows a faster reaction, about 7 seconds delay.  file is 96meg.  does it on small files too.   That is the only button in revit that lags.

Actually, we call that button "the big R" (There is no "command line" in Revit). Anyway, some users have said that the issue is related to the recent files having invalid paths. Please see this post by Steve Stafford:

Success!   I did a system clean up using "Smart PC Care" from Advanced System Organizer and among other things it found  44 revit "junk files", in the Revit "journals"  http://screencast.com/t/njvcjZ6C  .    I don't know what that is, but after cleaning them out, I have no more lag in the "big R" button functions, it pulls right down with no lag.    Hope this helps others.  Thanks for the feedback.

an update, just a couple days later, the "junk files" being created are back as are the slow downs from "the big R" button.  Why does this happen?  http://screencast.com/t/1Q99tJy6D

If you want to control the Journal files, go to Revit Icon (wait 7 secs 🙂 ) Options and under General - look Journal File Cleanup. under there it has options to cleanup older Journal files within xx days and how many to create. These are used to diagnose issues with Revit or Revit file if something drastic happens
