Color of walls-render appearance

Using Revit Arch 2012

Click on basic walls adding a paint layer (even is duplicate wall and add paint layer) Even if change render appearance of wall... It all crashes revit.

 

Any ideas?  I am a Revit Newbie

First of all ensure you have the service pack installed

Revit Arch 2012

 

Next you wouldn't normally add a "paint" layer to your wall. Simply change the render appearance of the stud layer, or use the paint tool after the wall is placed
