circle tangent

I don't seem to be able to connect a line that would be tangent to a circle. The snap point always snaps to the circle center. I've turned off line and angular increments so I should be able to snap anywhere on the circle, but it ain't happening. Would appreciate comments. Thanks, JS

normaly if you draw a line from exterior side to the circle and type ST , the end point snaps to tangent

an , if from Manage >Snaps > Object Snaps , you have checked Tangents (ST) , it has to detect automaticaly the tangent point when drawing...

Thank you Constantin, that works. I also found that if ALL object snaps are checked (which I didn't have before), the tangent icon would automatically appear for snapping.
