cannot open 2008 files in RA2009

Revit-ers

i have R2008 and by subscription R2009

whatever that is drawn/modeled in 2009 can be opened in 2009 but not 2008

and existing projects/files authored in 2008 cannot upgraded for use in
2009.

when trying in 2009, the error message states that the window cannot be
drawn and asks to be dismissed; the program then closes

what's up ?

Revit is not backward compatible, so you will not be able to open 2009 files in 2008. As for your inability to open or upgrade 2008 files in 2009, it is hard to say. Are you trying to drag and drop the 2008 files on the 2009 desktop icon or drag the 2008 project file in the open 2009 application window?

If so, try opening the file through 2009 with the Open from the file menu instead. If your 2008 files still cannot be opened contact Revit support through your subscription.

I agree with Mel, but I'll add that the "window cannot be drawn" error is
likely a videocard problem. Try updating your videocard drivers, and/or
ensure that OpenGL is turned off in the Settings>Options dialog.
