can only pick two planes from a reference line and not all three

I have a reference line and can only select the cap plane or vertical along the line plane but not the horizontal along the line plane ...Capture.PNG

 

 

 

is there any special key to press when moving the mouse to the line so I can select which plane I want?

Yes,

 

Set workplane. Then use tab key when selectring reference line
