beam column height

I am trying to insert a column and beam structure but am having problems getting the beams to slope and adjusting the column hiehgt.

I am new to revit. I came from adt. there i could insert the columns, draw a beam from column to column, then select one of the columns and modify the height (from the properties dialogue) and the column would adjust with the new height and the beam would now slope from the old column (at the lower height) to the new height.

Thanks

Justin

Cut a section perpendicular to the beam.
Create a sloping ref plane and attach the beam to it.

so the beam is not actually attached to the column, but the plane? So then can i attach the top of the column to the plane too, so that if i raise the height of the plane, the column goes with in?

I'm hearing a lot of this idea of using Reference Planes to control geometry. It seems like, following this approach, you'll quickly have many, many reference planes. Is there a way to control visibility of these in groups? Like all the planes pertaining to Walls in one, all the walls about Stairs in another, etc.

Reference planes in a project can be assigned to Scope Boxes. Each view can
have different Scope Boxes assigned, and they can be easily changed in
Properties on the fly.
