Hi!
Finally someone came to a great idea about "Answer Days"!
Dear Autodesk guys and girls, here are my questions, I will number them so I can follow answers easily:
- Why there is no any development in Collaboration aspect? For example, Copy/Monitor cannot copy beams, foundations and a lots of other "structural" stuff. Not very practical, hence, few users use it, and those who does, use it only for levels and grids.
- When we will finally be able to turn off wall layers off? I want to display only structural part of the building, and I don't want to model it separately because of energy analysis.
- Why walls are autojoined in the floor plans but not in the sections? If one wall stands on the other, we must join them one by one.
- Why floors are not joined automatically with walls and other elements?
- Why cast-in-place stairs are cannot bejoined on the upper level floor? Or wall, or column, or structural framing. Usually, I model Stairs with Revit tool, them model in place (with floor category) onto that geometry, and then delete the original Revit Stairs.
- Will we ever have an option like "join priority", something like in Advance Concrete?
- Why 2D elements don't have Z value? Moving things forward and backward is awkward
- Why items on the Revit Sheet don't have Z value? If we need to change order of overlapped elements, we need to add views on sheet all over again.
- Why we cannot arrange elements on the sheet so on different sheets we can have floor plans arranged properly (on the same relative place on the each sheet)?
- Why we can align section with floor plan on the sheet, but when we turn that section 90 degrees, we can't align it anymore? (there is no snap lines)
- Will we ever be able to adjust the size of those little dots, circles, arrows etc. with which we drag and move elements in Revit? You know, little circles on the grid line heads, arrows on the section boxes etc.
- View girds in the 3D?
- Measure in 3D?
- Why annotations (tags) cannot be rotated in the elevation views?
- When we will have some more advanced tools for topography? For example: ground layering (geotechnical ground properties), cuting out excavations (building pits), making planar and sloped surfaces more easily, be able to use AUTOCAD POINTS (now I convert it to litle circles with LISP routine, then use it in Revit), making water surfaces. Why cannot I cut topography with mass? I know, topography is mesh geometry, but whatever, it cannot be that hard to implement it?
- Will Autodesk sometime in the future focus some more on the European market where are a lot of competitors in the BIM software solutions area? What I am talking is a lot of things needed to be improved to win here. I hope my questions will give you some idea what I am talking about. Archicad is fighting Revit pretty successfully in the Architecture area, DDS-CAD in the MEP section, AllPLAN in the structural engineering and so on.
- Here in Europe, we can feel that Revit is American software, so we need to "hack" it all the time to get it work our way (often unsuccessfully). For example, why we cannot get Room Area with door insert included? If we have thick wall and a door in it, area in front of the door must also be taken into account (according to DIN norm). But Revit cannot do this. We need to draw(!) the Room boundary lines manually in such cases.
- Legends and not very useful in Europe, because, if you want for example to take out wall types, you cannot annotate it with dimension lines and wall layer materials and it's thicknesses. You cannot tag anything in the Legend. You cannot choose wall type for Doors, Windows, etc., tag Doors and Windows, give them instance parameters etc.
- There is still no useful batch print option in Revit, will there be something usefull in the future besides Autodesk Batch Print for Revit which is marked with 1 star (out of 5).
- You cannot create schedule of wall types and it's layers with their thicnesses, why?
- When we link the Revit model via Shared Coordinates, and when I change, for example, elevation value in the link, when I reload that link in the main model, nothing happens, but I need to remove it and link it again. When this will be finally resolved?
That's all I can think about now (concerning Revit Architecture). There is more, maybe some other time.
