another noob question - slab openings

I have a slab that has a stair opening cut into it. I thought it was part
of the slab, but when I select the slab and hit edit, it shows the outline
of the whole slab, not the opening. This leads me to believe it is an
opening object that I must modify. I am happy to select this opening
object, delete it, and draw another opening, but I can't seem to select this
object. If indeed it is an opening object. How can I select this object
and delete it? If I isolate the slab it shows the slab with the opening,
but if I select the slab and hit edit. It only shows the outside extents of
the slab, not the opening. Please advise. Thanks.

Regards Peter.

Highlight over the edge of the opening and hit TAB key until it selects the opening and then you can edit just the opening or whatever you want.

Showing the slab with the opening in it and then the slab outline when I hit
the edit button. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Peter.

Thanks - for some reason I couldn't select it in plan. I went to the
section and it seemed that I couldn't select it either, but it was there.
It is the same thickness as the slab, which made it difficult to find. The
ceiling opening is quite a bit larger than the thickness of the ceiling and
was easy to spot. It must be just the way the slab openings show up. They
also tell you what the opening is when you hover over them with mouse.
Thanks again.

Regards Peter.

This could be a shft opening that extends below or above the actual slab element. Use a apparent crossing window to select everything and then use the Filter button on the Option bar to find the Opening tool that created the opening. It could be an opening by face, vertical opening or shaft opening.

ahh - I remember that filter button from my course. Thanks for the
reminder. I figured it out though. It was just difficult to select in
certain sections. Thanks again.
