ADT is the future in a way

until the debt is paid down
a little- (and that could take
several years)- there won't
be any real construction
projects.. and that's also
how much time they need
to learn BIM and revit- (don't
kid yourself that they know
it already)..

so for who knows how long-
there will only be small projects
and rehabs- perfectly suited
to ADT and the old DBB..

true revit can produce
construction documents faster-
but that's not the point..

Matt Dillon was right about
ADT continuing to be important..

West? Which way is west? looks like the sun is either rising or setting
behind the house so maybe its that way. garage door on the inside? gonna
be kinda hard to get the cars in and out with an interior garage door.

TDP-

what do think about just moving the garage
about 8 feet to the west and putting the
garage door on the inside?

Scott-

by default in revit- the front of a building is
the south view..

here is an example of a garage with its
entrance on the inside..

You must be just parking motorcycles in there, nothing else would fit.

I would question the constrcuctability of it based on the items you list
Murph. It's one thing to be able to draw a house with CAD. it's an entirely
different thing to build it.

Just because the software puts the parts together doesn't mean it can be
built that way. You gotta have some construction knowledge. More than one
way to nail to 2Xs together.

I agree, Why is the arch above the door higher than the rest of the windows
arches, speaking of if you have arch windows in the front of the house they
all should be arched windows to include the one to the right of the garage.
How big are those dormers? Look about 2 feet wide to me, sure hope the you
can get custom made windows cheap. Why the columns on the front? Especially
right next to a supporting wall. The lack of the rain gutters and downspouts
must means vector2 lives in a place where it never rains.

"by default in revit- the front of a building is the south view.."

not necessarily...the front is whatever direction you choose to model. If
you choose to draw the project with the front of the building towards the
lower part of the screen, then yes, that is by deault the South Elevation.
In actuality you should be drawing your buildings to conform to their site.
You don't ever orient your designs correctly to what is actually north? Do
you do any sun studies? Shadow studies? With your logic that the front is
to the south by default, then your rendering has the sun setting/rising
(depending on time of rendering) in the North.

Ah, and now I know what you mean by "garage entrance on the inside". What
you really mean is that the garage door doesn't face the street like the
front of the house, but rather aligns with the side of the house.

Scott-

you said it yourself: "the front is whatever direction you choose to model"

and if you don't choose any direction or don't say it's a different direction-
then it's DEFAULT- front being south. you would not assume someone
has chosen a different direction and is failing to state that..

logic is tons of fun..

Tom-

why would one need to have design knowledge to
have their house look the way they want it to look?

I think you hit the nail on the head with part of your response.

Tom- i don't think you are making much sense..

you said: "looks as though someone who lacks
design knowledge designed it"

a lot of people design their own houses because
they are the ones who will live in it..

how do you say someone lacks design knowledge
if that's what they want?

what kind of design knowledge are you talking about?

(logic) I don't think that word means what you think it means.

The kind of design knowledge that you may be lacking, perhaps?

"what kind of design knowledge are you talking about?"

I can design spaceships all day long. Doesn't mean they'll fly.
