ADT is the future in a way

until the debt is paid down
a little- (and that could take
several years)- there won't
be any real construction
projects.. and that's also
how much time they need
to learn BIM and revit- (don't
kid yourself that they know
it already)..

so for who knows how long-
there will only be small projects
and rehabs- perfectly suited
to ADT and the old DBB..

true revit can produce
construction documents faster-
but that's not the point..

Matt Dillon was right about
ADT continuing to be important..

Too bad the Gateway will turn into paycheck loans and the Cottonwood Mall
will have a big box hardware store as anchor.

absolutely nothing going on fer sure. This is the little bit of a
project that I'm presently in the middle of.

oi that's pretty bad. never mind that it's pure cheese - the scale is all
wrong, the main part of the facade is a cheap steel garage door that's
probably embossed with a wood grain effect and has the curb appeal of a blue
box.

you want eye candy? here's some eye candy...

oh and btw there are many things that we do in architecture that revit is
incapable of doing.

but we use it and other tools besides.

First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

what exactly do you think revit is incapable of?

I'm sure he pays great attention to what is being said by competent people in here.

The fact that you've had your feelings hurt since he doesn't follow your skewed thinking is not his fault.

Jose- thanks for your input- but you definitely
need to pay better attention to what is being

joe-

that's amazing- you are the only other one besides
myself who recognizes a problem with that
"protuberance on the left".. i agree- and i think
that is why i never actually completed any plans for
this house.. oh yes i'm impressed with the design-
but i'm not a great designer myself and i never
could figure out what to do with it..

actually the whole left part needs proper fenestration. or is it another
ode to the garage?

I assume the left wing is the garage - then you need to provide small moves
on the fenestration to guide the eye to the main roof and the rest of the
building. everything is built on stepping up to the main roof at the
building's center - let the garage be part of that language.

you can get kennels like these these ready made off the back of a lorry...........no wonder you have so much time to post if you build things like this in Revit and to think buying these has led to the sub prime.

what do think about just moving the garage
about 8 feet to the west and putting the
garage door on the inside?

I will assume that everyone lives in the huge garage since it seems to out of scale with the rest of the house.

Not to mention the design itself looks as though someone who lacks design knowledge designed it.

I agree, Why is the arch above the door higher than the rest of the windows
arches, speaking of if you have arch windows in the front of the house they
all should be arched windows to include the one to the right of the garage.
How big are those dormers? Look about 2 feet wide to me, sure hope the you
can get custom made windows cheap. Why the columns on the front? Especially
right next to a supporting wall. The lack of the rain gutters and downspouts
must means vector2 lives in a place where it never rains.

If you want a critique...

* The tops of windows - except for arches - should line up. If you
have a 7' door, put the top of all windows at 7'. Windows with arches
should be positioned so the base of the arch is at 7'. Nothing looks
tackier than to see a row of windows with the top of arches at the
same height as the non-arched windows or windows at varying heights
across the elevation.
* For columns next to exterior walls - consider pilasters. It will
look better and you won't have a narrow gap between column and wall
that can hold trash or leaves.
* The proportions of the two gables is off (garage and to the left of
the front door). Try adjusting the roof height and pitch a bit.
* I know Murph suggested making all the front windows arched. But
here is another option. I think you should leave the arch on the
window at the gable and get rid of the other two arches. Then lower
the roof across the front (not the pitch, but the height of the
fascia). That should help the overall proportions of the house.
* I think the roof needs a larger overhang.
* I don't see any gutter - and the fascia doesn't appear to be tall
enough to hold a gutter. Beef it up a bit.
* The dormer roofs are too thin.
* If you are going to use the arched windows at the dormers, try
putting an arched louver at the garage gable instead of the triangle
one. Consistency helps. But you might want to consider soffit and
ridge venting rather than gable venting. Venting requirements and
recommendations do vary in different parts of the country - I would
use soffit/ridge, but it may not be needed where you are.

You think that garage is bad? Come to my town, where the 1400 sf houses
have 3-car garages, set 18 feet in front of the house...
