Adding both material and finish parameters to an element in a family

Hello, I'd appreciate some help in this issue.

Problem: I'm making a stair family made of anti-slip plate of steel, and I already set the material parameter so that the editable material appears in the project. Nevertheless, the whole stair has a finish material which I have not been able to add: paint.

Failed solutions: I tried the excersise of adding paint to the elements (as in a project one would add paint to the walls), but two problems emerged: there are an incredible amounts of faces to paint since I made the anti-slip texture on the steps (the treads are an external family), and I can't even select the paint to add a parameter to it (is it even possible?).

Goal: The ideal would be that I can add both parameters (material and finish) to every element in the stair: C channel, angle tabs, ani-slip plates, balausters, PTRs, etc.

Thanks in advance!
