Can you set the Property Palette to Autohide?

There is no Autohide functionality. You can however undock and move to a
2nd monitor (if you have one.) It can also be rezized.

First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

A 2010 file opened in 2011 will be promoted to the 2011 format, but it will
not be able to be taken back and worked on again in 2010.

Thanks. I personally would like to have it ON all the time on my 2nd monitor along with the Project browser. If the ribbon can reside there it would even be better.
My only concern is with performance because Property Palette is famous for causing unreasonable slowness in AutoCAD/ACA.

you probably wouldn't want a second monitor
with your laptop anyway..

in the office you would, we have either dual monitors for the laptops or a
monitor and laptop screen

Seems I recall that you can turn it off though, correct?

you can close it, and when you select element properties, it will open back up for you wherever you left it

Matt can you tell us more about your experience
with revit 2011? did you like the properties
dialog staying open?

...if you save. If you just simply open a 2010 project in 2011, and close
without saving, then the 2010 project will remain.

If you accidently open a 2010 project in 2011 and save it, the most recent
backup will still be the 2010 version. Another reason its important to keep
backups.

like i have said before- most of these revit
gurus know all the revit functions by heart-
but they don't know how to use revit..

You mean they don't know how to open 2 models in 1 Revit session?
