I am using revit 2011. I cannot seem to get standard revit materials such as cmu to render correctly. I have split face cmu. The texture renders, but the mortar lines do not show up. There is a bump file associated with it. I can't figure this out. Please help.
can you add an image?

What is the point of all the revit materials if I have to load an image? I just wanted to use a standard revit cmu material and have it render the way it says it will. Nope...you have to edit it to death. I don't think Autodesk is heading in the right direction (as far as making things user friendly) in the way of rendering. It takes me 10x as long to get materials looking right. Editing 2010 materials was EASY.
ummm - i think you may have misunderstood... can you post an image of the issue you are having in this forum, so we all can see exactly what you are experiencing and then may be able to help a little more.

The tan material directly above and below is CMU that I took directly out of the revit materials library. I did nothing to alter it. As you can see there are no mortar lines.
The blue CMU and the CMU at the top that shows grout lines I got by creating a default material, then used Masonry CMU, then set it to "tile" and did all the "tile appearance", "grout", "transforms", "scale"....and then the "releif pattern".....and finally I got what I wanted.
Is there a way to get around all these extra steps?
Why wouldn't the revit CMU material automatically be set up to render with mortar lines for a 8x16 block?
