Hi Jeremy,

The trip home was okay.
I enjoyed the DevDay and I really hope next year they have a general first hackaton day with open topics (like we did 2 years ago), where you can ask all kinds of questions about any topic like autocad, revit, inventor, view and data ext.
I hope you and Rudi have a nice and usefull week,
Kind regards from the Netherlands,
Remy.

Yes, the weather is nice. It really looks like spring is returning. I even have some bugs in my software, since the didn't freeze to death 🙂

I arrived safe and sound in Madrid but have so far only seen the interior of the airport and offices... Maybe get to see what the weather is like after the BIM programming workshops and View and Data API intro... Cheers, Jeremy.

Whow, you travel a lot. How many days of the year are you away from home 🙂

Today is my inventor programming day. Well, if you think the Revit API has some diffeculties, try inventor. OMG.. It is interop programming, so you are working with objects that you need to cast. Sometimes you have no idea where to cast it too. It's a complete search in the dark. Using QuickWatch is an adventure on it's own.. After a day programming in Inventor, it almost makes me happy to program in Revit again 🙂 (did I say that :))

I did consulting with Inventor for a year or two and actually liked it  🙂

That was a long time ago, though, 2005-7 or so.

Glad to hear you are hapy to get back to the Revit API.

I always am too  🙂

The web stack is pretty cool too, though...

You should give that a try as well.

Cheers,

Jeremy

I will do so when the time comes. The rest of the week I am doing an AutoCAD 2016 prorgamming job. Luckely there are more online samples available than for inventor. But, I will make good use of the inventor answer day 🙂 O yeah, and it is 13 degrees here. It feel like autumn.

It is unseasonally warm here in Madrid as well, but not much warmer than you say at your end.

My presentation and the first part of the BIM Programming workshop yesterday went well, with a very Spanish (late hours) schedule:

15:00 - 16:30 Presentation (150 participants):

  • Future of making things, IoT, Forge
  • WebGL and the View and Data API
  • BIM Programming
    • Connecting the desktop and the cloud
    • 2D cloud-based Revit room editor
    • FireRating in the cloud

17:00 - 20:30 Workshop (40 participants):

  • Getting started with the Revit API and Connecting Desktop and Cloud (part 1)

20:30 - 22:00 Social Event

22:00 - 24:00 Dinner

Now I am still tired and looking forward to part 2 of the workshop.

Have a nice day, guys!

Cheers,

Jeremy

wow, I didn't know those spanish people came alive in the afternoon. Are they vampires? 🙂
Yesterday was the inventor answer day and Autodesk was on a roll. Posted 2 questions which got answered within half a hour. I almost cried, since I'm not used to these fast responses on a support question, let alone, get a real answer instead of 'as designed' 🙂 🙂 🙂 Anyways, I gave Adam some kudos, he earned it. If he continues like this, we might let him join our little group here 🙂

Cool.

Congratulations!

I am passing on your appreciation to Adam. He will be glad to hear it.

My samples showing how to connect the desktop and the cloud based on Revit BIM, Node.js, MongoDB and the View and Data API are causing a lot of excitement here in Spain.

Time for you to get going in that area as well?

No vampires detected so far... but if I had, I wouldn't tell you, of course... 🙂

Have fun!

Cheers,

Jeremy

I want to take a look at the whole revit-database stuff, but considering my agenda, it might take a few weeks before I can start unfortunately. Too busy with other projects. But I'm sure you will here from me when I start with it 🙂

You really should!

I can save you a lot of work, if you have anything at all to do with connecting different components, hooking up with databases, exchanging data, interacting with more than one single Revit project.

Here in Madrid, the Spanish BIM and developer community  is really excited about the possibilities, beauty and simplicity it offers.

Check out our latest enhancements and additions to the FireRatingCloud project!

Good morning, Remy!

From the country of C**3, cheese, chocolate and chemicals.

Well, banks and pharmaceuticals as well, I guess.

I am busy with Revit cases, as always, and wishing I could further pursue my TrackChangesCloud project, which I also want to continue towards database and cloud areas:

https://github.com/jeremytammik/TrackChangesCloud

By the way, it has already made its way into a first commercial application:

Good luck with your explorations!

Please let us know how you get on with it!

Cheers,

Jeremy
