Hi all!
We just published what will be the last Beta pre-release of Memento.
The next build will be our commercial release under the official product name Autodesk® ReMake
you can download the (Windows version) build here:

What’s new in this April 2016 Windows Beta release:
We also want to inform you that we are opening a very limited, ‘by invitation only’ Alpha testing of the full Project Play editor where you can create tools like the Smithsonian’s http://3d.si.edu/browser 3D on your own as well as many other exciting interactive, multimedia real time experiences. Follow the Memento web page for updates. If you would like to apply for alpha testing of Project Play, please send and email to play@autodesk.com in which you state your name, profession, company you work at, portfolio links and what kind of online interactive experiences would you build with Play and we can consider you for the limited Alpha group.

Enjoy and let us know how does it go!
Congratulations Memento team!
It has been a joyful ride to follow the development of Memento the last couple of years. You have made photogrammetry intuitive, and changed the way my colleges and me have been working as architects.
I am happy to see that products that has been in Beta, are released as commercial product when they are matured and ready. For Memento, I understand that this will happen next month. I also feel that an epoch has ended. An epoch of an unlimited playground of testing and playing that was free and noncommittal. That is something that is a rare experience in our digital world and that has made Memento, in addition to its intuitive tools, unique.
I am looking forward seeing the final commercial release and I will follow Memento closely in the future. I hope you manage to keep Autodesk Remake as intuitive and clear as possible and that you not are trying to solve too many problems in one software. Be best on your primary goals. Let others do the other stuff.
Keep up the good work “team Memento”!
Dear Tatjana Dzambazova,
The new version is crashing when I load a 3D scan made by the build 1707.
Let people know how to fix that. You should have tested that a bit more intensively before releasing.
Especially as it is suppose the version before the commercial one.
Release a bugged demo is not the best way to sell a software.
Best regards
Geoffrey
Hi Tatjana,
That sounds good, will try it soonest.
Does commercial means that it will no longer be for free?
All the best,
Nicolaas
Hi Geoffery,
Thanks for reporting the crash. Can you share the file with us to check what is going on?
We changed the file format significantly to support both low spec hardware (with intergrated GFX card) and to load very large models (in many hundred million polygons if you have the latest and greatest high end GFX card) *while* maintaining the interactivity that you all like and expect from Memento.
Old files have to go through one time optimization (even then, we don't optimize the textures) due to conversion cost. It is likely that system is running out of resources OR there is a plain bug that we could not catch.
We will update the back-end in about 4 weeks with the new engine which produces optimized files that does not need conversion at clients end. My recommendation would be to reprocess the images once that happens. I will keep you all posted when the service is available.
Regards,
Murali
Hi,
It means there would be options available, including a free version with specific set of features.
Thank you!
Regards,
Murali
Dear Murali,
Thanks for the reply and the explanation.
How could I share the file as it is tens of Mb? via Google Drive?
Best regards
Geoffrey
Dear Geoffery,
You can use A360 share mechanism OR any share service will do.
Regards,
Murali
Great work guys!
All the very best!
V.
Is this going to be an addon to one of the design suites? what is the approximate price for the software? Can it be purchased standalone?
Hi
I'm not sure why it's comming out of Beta when you've just released offline renders. Constantly stuck at 1% here with a high end machine. 😞
Also, where can we get pricing details on the new product. And are you offering options for non-profits?
Thanks
Hi,
Is it 'stuck' at 1% for reconstruction running on your machine? If yes, it would mean: The number of images is high for your machine to compute fast enough.
Please note reconstruction is compute intensive process, even on top end professional grade workstations with 14 core dual Xeons, 256GB RAM, NVMe SSDs and couple of Quadro M6000 cards, processing time can run into days for few hundred high mega pixel photos.
Regards,
Murali
Autodesk ReMake will be a standalone application
it will be a freemium model
HIgh level its this:
- Free version with limited functionality and resolution
- Pay for version: 29 dollars a month subscription ( cheaper if yearly) for the editor - the first few months we will have a promotion that will let you buy it for 19 dollars a month
+ additional $5 per cloud reconstruction
there are some more nuances, but high level it is that.
of course before going live and see this officially on teh web site, we dont guarantee slight changes (very unlikely but just saying that thsi is not official confirmation but guidance)
hope this helps
Hi
Thanks for that information.
Just one thing I'm confused about.
The + additional $5 per cloud reconstruction is that the same as the current memento cloud reconstuctions? eg upload the images, then download the model?
Thanks
yes
so the subscription covers the editor (and local reconstruction that however works only on super high end machines)
the cloud reconstruction is yes, the photo to 3d ( upload photos, get an email back, model is downloadabl) and that costs $5 per model.
CORRECTION of the statement ' is much slower' suggested by my dev team: a good desktop machine will beat cloud processing.
Thank for that infomation it's invaluble.
So, for us without highpowered machines. Is the best option -
download the freemium.
Do a test of photos to reconstuct a low quality 3D model (to see if it's rendering correctly)
Then, if the low res model is good, upload all and pay $5 for a full model?
Would that be the scenario?
If it's $5 per model I'm hoping paypal or the like is being considered as a payment processor.
hi,yes, that seems right as approach.
as to Paypal , our Autodesk e-store does support paypal but you wont be able to purchase individual credits.
Cloud credits are sold in packs of 100 for $100USD, based on US SRP. Pricing in other currencies may vary.
