Select by Plane - More points the better?

This is more of a technical question for ADSK.

When using the Select by Plane tool, we can select a minimum of 3 points in order to define a plane.

But, does selecting more than 3 points increase the 'accuracy' by averaging the plane out across all points?

Yes. You are correct.

It will average the plane out across all picked points.
