Change units after project is created & registered

How can I change my units from meters to feet & inches after I've already imported and registered my scans?

Hover over the "house" and then select "Preferences"

Note this project unit setting will only update the coordinate value displayed in ReCap. It won't update the value of points in RCS files.

Does this only work in ReCap Pro? In my copy of ReCap following the instructions results in a dialog box similar to that shown in vidanom's 03-04-2014, 3.jpg except that i do not see an option for display units.

Yes, I would recommend installing the latest version.

http://www.autodesk.com/products/recap/free-trial

You’ll receive 30 days trial of scan-to-scan registration and feature to add survey points.

Everything else is free and has many enhancements than the older version.

You can open structured scans (fls, ptx, ptg and zfs files) and view them in “RealView” mode, upload and share on the cloud.

Sample attached.

How do you force Recap to import in meters? By the time I import the scans, it's too late, and Recap has "auto appropriated" the incorrect units, and all I can do is change the way they're viewed.

Unfortunately you cannot change the scale before or even after indexing the data in ReCap. You can only change the display units.

You can change the scale for text (TXT) file formats in advance settings before indexing, but that's unstructured data and ReCap cannot use those for alignment, if that is the intention.

The only way you can make the scaling of rcs files is afterwards in AutoCad, Revit or other Autodesk products.

The .txt point cloud is already aligned. Where can I change the units? I
tried under general settings. But when I import, the cloud is still
incorrect. I've checked it in other software and it comes in fine.

Please refer to this thread:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/recap-pro-general-discussion/culled-point-cloud/td-p/5257375

In here are described the steps for changing the point cloud scale.

Note: this only works for .txt scan formats

Thanks,

I didn't realize the scanner icon controlled .txt input.
