Export Distance Annotations

Export Distance Annotations

This is a seemingly trivial suggestion, but it would be helpful if the export option for distance measurements could be a little more robust.  Perhaps a file (csv, xls, txt, etc) that had all of the information from the selected dimension, including:

  • Coordinates of each selected point (start and end)
  • Total distance
  • Discrete coordinate distances (X, Y and Z)
  • NAME (which should be an editable field in Recap too)
  • Extra credit if all of the above units were exported in metric AND imperial

The same goes for any target point, sphere or checkerboard.

Also, in Recap the Distance should be visible/selectable even if the entire distance leader is not on the screen.  Currently if you zoom in on an area and the entire distance spans beyond the screen it cycles off.  Keeping it visible would allow fine tuning of the end point placement.

Thanks for your consideration.

EDIT - I thought there was an export option for distance annotations.  But it appears there is not, only a "copy to clipboard" - so in the absence of the export option, the above applies equally to "copy to clipboard" though a global export would be helpful.

Thanks for the reply vidanom.  Unfortunately what you suggest does not work on my end.  If i download a CSV as your image suggests, i get nothing for distance annotations in the csv file.  Notes do come through with x,y,z coordinates of note tag point.  BUT, i did find a button that i don't know was present in earlier versions.  If you click on an end point of a distance annotation, you can copy the coords of that distance point to the clipboard.  This serves my purpose, if through a clunky workaround.
