As part of the package Civil3D 2017 I have Recap 360 installed. I have registered Civil 3D 2017, but I can’t register ReCap with this serial number.
So I start to test Recap 360 Pro in trial mode (30 days).
What I would like is testing of registration of certain files. I tried a few scans in las, pts, e57 format - never menu or option "Registration " appear.
I downloaded and reinstalled the trial version of Pro ReCAP 360, the same problem. In Help it is marked as "Autodesk ReCap 360 PRO", but no Registration option.
Is this is the limitation of the trial version? Or I can only register some format of scans?
My question is how I can try registration of scans in ReCap?
Thanks,
Viktor.

Hi Viktor!
Registration is only available for structured scans in the current version of ReCap 360. Structured scans are produced by spherical laser scanners, and the registration workflow will only be enabled for a project if it contains at least two of them. Data formats like PTS & LAS are unstructured point clouds, and it's likely that your E57 data is also unstructured (though E57 can also contain structured data if the original source was structured).
As a workaround, you can still change the origin & orientation of your scan project before importing the RCP into Civil 3D using the "Update Origin" tool in the main project view:
This will allow you to set a new point as the origin for all the scans in the project.
Thanks for using ReCap, and let me know if you need further info!
Hello humberb ,
Thank you for prompt reply.
For testing purpose where I can find those structured scans?
Perhaps Autodesk can provide those demo scans with ReCap?
Have a good day,
Viktor.
No problem! You should find a small demo project with structured scans in %ProgramData%\Autodesk\Autodesk ReCap 360\Sample.
Additionally, you can find a lot more sample data, including structured scans, in our shared Data Center, which you can also access from the ReCap Community Hub. You might want to look at some of the "Structured Scan Data" inside the "Laser Scan Projects" folder.
