Did the following nothing happened, except an empty box appeared:
1 Clicked on text button
2 Made sure formula was not checked
3 Clicked a point for base point
4 Entered text
5 Clicked ok- - -no text

If I right click on frame, text editor appears with text in it but it does
not display on sheet.

Select View>Options>Visibility and tick the text option.

Marcus,

I presume there is an view option in QC to make text visible. Why is
there such a thing? When would you want to make your text invisible?

There doesn't seem to be such a thing in AS.

I have no idea. There are a lot of settings that seem to have no apparent
use like the 'Protect Layer Changes' setting in the Layer Properties dialog
box.

Paul is on holiday for 2 weeks so your going to have to put up with me until
he gets back!

Hi Chip,

Have you checked the size of the font....it might be very small....hence why
you can't see it on screen but can see it in the text editor window.

I know that Paul has been on about that in the past, and I think that
opinion turns up in his book, also. And if YOU guys don't know why
that's there, it probably is some artifact from an early version
(preDrafix?) that has no use now. It actually can confuse things. Do you
know of other weirdnesses like that lurking to bite us?

BTW, no problem about putting up with you. You actually write complete,
intelligent sentences that I can understand. As opposed to the croc.

Hope his demeanor is more pleasant when he returns.

I bought QuickCad 7 about a month ago and have been delighted with the
features compared with AutoCad 8 I used before I retired 8 years ago.
One problem: sometimes when I 'hatch' an area, the text in the area
disappears. I saw your suggestion to try 'View, Options, Visibility,
Text" but the Options page doesn't have Visibility that I can see and
the only text reference is to make the text reference tick visible or
not. I've tried manipulating the layers: same layer, different layers,
etc. If I make the hatch layer Background, the text reappears, but then
when I 'Copy' and try to put it in a document, the Hatch doesn't
transfer. What am I missing?

Robert,

Try selecting the hatch and typing [Ctrl]+B which should send it to
background. That's the way it might work in AutoSketch.

When you Copy to a document, try PasteSpecial.

No text display is a good option for users with large files that don't need
to see the text,
if you turn it off, the computer doesn't have to reload it, giving faster
reload times.
