Saving as R12 DXF?

Whenever I do a File - Save As - R12 DXF, QuickCAD does the save, but then
closes itself down, and doesn't prompt to save any other open files. Anyone
else experiencing this "feature"?

Hello Dave. I'm Ralph. I can't help you but can offer some sympathy. I use autosketch v7. Same thing as QC, really.
I have a problem like yours. I used to be able to save a drawing to any Acad version. A .DWG or a .DXF. No problem.
Now when I try, it does like you say, only it not only closes but it doesn't save anything either. Sounds like a "re-install
it" problem. I may try that one of these days....... You know, when I don't have anything more pressing to do, like earning
living.

I'll be watching to see if it gets solved for you. Ralph maugeri.

Ralph,

Thanks for the words of sympathy. As much as I love QuickCAD for all the
little things it does (my CAD needs are quite simple), I really hate THIS
little thing it does. I did re-install, but to no avail. Are you by chance
running under NT? Just curious.

Dave,

Sorry to hear that the re-install doesn't make things any better. I was hping it would.

No NT. I'm using 98 1st edition. Guess the OS doesn't make a difference in this case. I'm going to 'beat' on it a
little and see what happens.

Save as R12 DXF works ok for me QC 7 on W95b.
Which version of QC and what OS are you using?

As a workaround you might try SAVE COPY AS command. Not in your
File menu? Right, it only shows up in the File menu when using
OLE from another application to embed a QC drawing, but there is
an Icon for it. If you put the Icon in a custom menu it will be
available all the time.

If you have never created a custom tool bar here is how (see help
for more details).
Right click on a blank place on the icon bar and select
toolbars.
Click on new to create a new custom tool bar.
Type in a name and a file name and click ok.
In the Customize Toolbar dialog box click on any command in
the right window and type s to go the [Save] icon, two icons
below is the [Save Copy As] icon.
Drag the icon to the left window and click close.
The new command will know be available whenever the custom-menu
is visible.

Rod,

Tried the Save Copy As - same result. Thanks for trying, though. Looks
like I better remember to save all the files before doing the DXF thing.

Rod,

I'm running QC7 on NT4.0 sp5. I'll try the Save Copy As and see. Thanks
for your help.
